Sell PlayStation 5 in Mesa — Honest Evaluations, Same-Day CashThis may contain: the new playstation 5 console and controller

If you’ve got a PS5 you’re ready to part with, Alma School Pawn is a straightforward place to sell it. We’ve been buying gaming consoles and electronics right here in Mesa since 2008, and we’re open seven days a week — no appointment needed.

Bring your PS5 in, we’ll test it thoroughly and give you an honest evaluation, and if it meets our resale requirements we’ll make you a fair cash offer the same day.

We Buy All PS5 Models

We evaluate all PlayStation 5 models — the original PS5, PS5 Digital Edition, PS5 Slim, and PS5 Pro — on a case-by-case basis. What determines whether we can make an offer is condition and current resale value. As a general guideline, consoles carrying a resale value of $150 or more in their current condition are typically good candidates.

We also buy PS5 games and accessories. Controllers, headsets, charging stations, and other peripherals all have potential resale value depending on condition and current market demand. Bring whatever you have and we’ll evaluate it alongside the console.

What Affects Your Offer When You Sell PlayStation 5

A few things factor into what we’re able to offer:sell playstation 5

Model. The PS5 Pro carries the strongest resale value in the PlayStation 5 lineup given its hardware improvements and higher original retail price. The PS5 Slim Disc Edition sits in the middle tier and is the most commonly traded model in the used market. The original PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition are still buyable depending on condition and current demand.

Disc drive vs. digital. Disc-capable models tend to hold more resale value than digital-only versions. Buyers value the flexibility to purchase used physical games, lend and borrow discs, and play physical media. If you have a PS5 Digital Edition with the optional disc drive attachment, bring that along — it adds to the offer.

Condition. A console in clean, working condition with normal wear will always do better than one with damaged ports, overheating issues, or significant cosmetic damage. The PS5 runs warm by design, so signs of heavy use or poor ventilation can be a factor.

Controllers. DualSense controllers are evaluated separately. Working controllers in good condition add meaningful value. Controllers with stick drift, trigger issues, or heavy wear will factor into the overall offer.

Games. Physical game discs have resale value on their own. Newer and more in-demand titles hold more value than older or less popular ones. Bring whatever you have and we’ll go through them.

Accessories. PSVR2 headsets, PlayStation Portal, Pulse headsets, charging stations, and other accessories are all evaluated based on condition and current resale demand. Don’t leave extras at home — bring everything you’ve got.

Completeness. Original cables, power cords, and packaging add to the overall picture. Missing pieces won’t disqualify a console, but a complete setup is always worth more.

What’s New — PS5 Pro and Where the Market StandsThis may contain: the new playstation 5 console and controller

Sony launched the PS5 Pro in November 2024 at $699, positioning it as the premium tier of the PlayStation 5 generation. It features a significantly upgraded GPU, improved ray tracing, AI-assisted upscaling through PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, and a 2TB SSD as standard. It’s a meaningful step up from the base PS5 for players who want the best possible performance from current-generation PlayStation hardware.

Since launch, retail prices across the entire PS5 lineup have increased. As of April 2026, Sony raised prices globally — the standard PS5 now retails at $649.99, the Digital Edition at $599.99, and the PS5 Pro at $899.99. That’s a significant shift from where these consoles started, and it has a direct effect on the used market.

What that means for you: rising retail prices tend to support used market values as well, since buyers looking for a more affordable entry point have fewer options at lower price points. A clean PS5 in good working condition is a genuinely appealing used purchase right now for buyers who don’t want to pay current retail prices. If you’ve been thinking about selling, the current market is a reasonable time to do it.

Before You Come In — Data and Account Privacy

Before bringing your PS5 in to sell, take a few minutes to remove your personal data and unlink your PlayStation account. This protects your purchases and personal information and keeps the transaction clean on our end.

Back up your save data. PlayStation Plus subscribers can back up save data automatically to the cloud. If you’re not a subscriber, save data stored locally will be lost when you factory reset — check this step first if it matters to you.

Deactivate your console as your primary PS5. Go to Settings → Users and Accounts → Other → Console Sharing and Offline Play → Disable. This ensures your digital game licenses stay tied to your account rather than the console.ps5 and games

Sign out of PlayStation Network. Go to Settings → Users and Accounts → sign out of your PSN account before resetting.

Factory reset the console. Go to Settings → System → System Software → Reset Options → Reset Your Console. Select the full reset option to wipe all user data and return the console to factory settings.

If you run into any trouble with these steps, our staff can help walk you through it in the store. Accounts still linked to the console when you arrive may slow down the process, so it’s worth handling beforehand if you can.

How We Evaluate Your PS5

We test everything in-store while you’re present. Our evaluation covers:

Power and functionality — we power the console on and confirm it boots, runs games, and operates normally. We check that the disc drive functions properly on disc-capable models.

Controllers — we test DualSense controllers for stick drift, trigger response, button functionality, haptic feedback, and wireless connectivity.

Ports and connectivity — HDMI, USB, and power ports are all checked.

Accessories — any additional accessories you bring in are tested and evaluated individually.

Cosmetic condition — we note any cracks, deep scratches, discoloration, or physical damage that would affect resale value.

Any issues we find will be factored into the offer. Minor wear is normal and expected. More significant problems may reduce the offer depending on severity — and in some cases may mean we aren’t able to purchase the item. We’ll always be upfront about what we found and why.

What to Bring With YouThis may contain: an image of a video game console set up on a table with controllers and accessories

  • The PS5 console
  • Power cable and HDMI cable
  • DualSense controller and charging cable
  • Any additional controllers, accessories, or peripherals
  • Physical game discs
  • A valid Arizona ID — we’ll need that if we move forward with a purchase

The more complete your setup, the stronger the offer we’re typically able to make.

Selling vs. Pawning Your PS5

If you need cash but aren’t ready to sell outright, you can use your PS5 as collateral for a pawn loan instead. We hold the console, you get cash, and you have the opportunity to come back and reclaim it when you’re ready.

Pawn loans run on a 90-day schedule with monthly interest payments. There’s no penalty for paying early, and if a month comes where the full payment isn’t manageable, covering just the interest keeps the loan in good standing and carries it over. Every loan is a little different, so give us a call or stop by and we’ll walk through what applies to your situation.

What to Expect When You Come Inplaystation controllers

The process is low-pressure from start to finish. Hand the console to one of our staff, they’ll run through the evaluation while you wait, and then present an offer. If it works for you, we’ll take care of the paperwork and hand you cash before you leave. If it doesn’t, you walk out with your PS5 — no problem.

Most evaluations wrap up in fifteen to twenty minutes. The full transaction, if you decide to sell, usually stays well under half an hour.

Other Items We Buy

PlayStation 5 is just one of the consoles we evaluate. If you’ve got a Nintendo Switch, Xbox, or other gaming system you’re looking to sell, bring those in too. We also buy laptops, cell phones, Apple devices, and more — if you’ve got other electronics sitting around, it’s worth bringing them in alongside your PS5.
