Sell Your Nintendo Switches in Mesa at Alma School Pawn
If you’ve got a Nintendo Switch you’re ready to part with, Alma School Pawn is a straightforward place to sell it. We’ve been buying electronics and gaming consoles right here in Mesa since 2008, and we’re open seven days a week — no appointment needed.
Bring your Switch in, we’ll test it thoroughly and give you an honest evaluation, and if it meets our resale requirements we’ll make you a fair cash offer the same day.
We Buy Nintendo Switches — All Models Welcome
We evaluate all Nintendo Switch models — the original Switch, Switch Lite, and Switch OLED — on a case-by-case basis. What determines whether we can make an offer isn’t the model alone, it’s the overall condition and current resale value. As a general guideline, consoles that carry a resale value of $150 or more and are recent enough to have meaningful market demand are typically good candidates.
We also buy Switch games and accessories. If you’re selling your console, bring everything that came with it — the dock, Joy-Con controllers, charging cable, and any game cards. A more complete setup typically results in a stronger offer. And if you’re not selling the console but have games or accessories you want to move, bring those in too and we’ll take a look.
What Affects Your Offer on Nintendo Switches
A few things factor into what we’re able to offer:
Model. The Switch OLED is the most recent standard model and generally holds the most resale value. The original Switch and Switch Lite are still buyable depending on condition and current market demand.
Condition. A console in clean, working condition with normal wear will always do better than one with a cracked screen, stuck buttons, or heavy physical damage. The Switch Lite in particular has a built-in non-detachable screen, so screen condition carries extra weight on that model.
Joy-Con condition. Joy-Con drift — where the analog stick registers move
ment without any input — is a known issue on some Switch controllers and will factor into the evaluation. Working, drift-free Joy-Cons in good physical condition add meaningful value.
Completeness. Bringing the original dock, both Joy-Con controllers, the charging cable, and any games or accessories adds to the overall offer. Missing pieces won’t automatically disqualify the console, but a complete setup is always worth more.
Games. Physical game cards have resale value on their own. Popular and newer titles tend to hold more value than older or less in-demand games. Bring whatever you have and we’ll sort through them.
Accessories. Pro Controllers, carrying cases, extra Joy-Con sets, and other accessories all have potential resale value depending on condition. If you’ve got extras sitting around, bring them in.
What’s New — The Nintendo Switch 2 and What It Means for Your Original Switch

Nintendo launched the Switch 2 in June 2025, and it’s a meaningful generational step up — larger screen, improved performance, new magnetic Joy-Con system, and exclusive titles like Mario Kart World. It launched at $449.99, placing it in a noticeably higher price bracket than the original Switch.
If you’re wondering what that means for the resale value of your original Switch, the honest answer is that it depends on the model and condition. The arrival of a new console generation typically puts some downward pressure on the previous generation in the resale market — that’s normal and expected. But the original Switch, Switch Lite, and Switch OLED still have real demand, particularly at lower price points. Plenty of buyers aren’t ready to spend $450 or more on a Switch 2, and a clean original Switch or OLED in good condition remains a practical and appealing option for that audience.
The short version: your original Switch still has value. If you’ve been holding off on selling, now is a reasonable time to bring it in before that market softens further.
Before You Come In — Data and Account Privacy
Before bringing your Switch in to sell, take a few minutes to unlink your Nintendo account and reset the console. This protects your digital purchases and personal information and makes the transaction cleaner on our end.
Back up your save data if you want to keep it. Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can back up save data to the cloud for supported games. If you’re not a subscriber, save data tied to the console will be lost when you factory reset — so check this step first if it matters to you.
Unlink your Nintendo Account. Go to System Settings → Users → select your user profile → Nintendo Account → Unlink. This removes your account from the console so your digital library and purchases stay tied to your account, not the device.
Deregister the console as your primary console. Go to System Settings → Users → your profile → Nintendo eShop → Deregister Primary Console. This is important if you have digital games — it ensures they remain accessible on a new device under your account.
Factory reset the console. Go to System Settings → System → Formatting Options → Initialize Console. This wipes all local data and returns the Switch to a clean state ready for a new owner.
If you run into trouble with any of these steps, our staff can help walk you through it in the store. Just keep in mind that accounts still linked to the console when you arrive may slow down the process.
How We Evaluate Your Switch
We test everything in-store while you’re present. Our evaluation covers:
Power and functionality — we power the console on and confirm it boots and operates normally in both docked and handheld modes where applicable.
Screen — we check for dead pixels, scratches, cracks, and display issues. Screen condition is especially important on the Switch Lite and Switch OLED models.
Joy-Con controllers — we test both Joy-Cons for drift, button response, and wireless connectivity. We check the analog sticks, triggers, SL and SR buttons, and overall physical condition.
Dock and accessories — if you’ve brought the dock, charging cable, and additional accessories, we’ll confirm those are functional as well.
Cosmetic condition — we note any cracks, deep scratches, or physical damage that would affect resale value.
Any issues we find will be factored into the offer. Minor wear is expected. More significant problems may reduce the offer depending on severity — and in some cases may mean we aren’t able to purchase the console. We’ll always be upfront about what we found and why.
What to Bring With You
- The Nintendo Switch console
- Dock, Joy-Con controllers, and charging cable
- Physical game cards
- Any additional accessories — Pro Controller, carrying case, extra Joy-Cons
- A valid Arizona ID — we’ll need that if we move forward with a purchase
The more complete your setup, the stronger the offer we’re typically able to make.
Selling vs. Pawning Your Switch
If you need cash but aren’t ready to sell outright, you can use your Switch as collateral for a pawn loan instead. We hold the console, you get cash, and you have the opportunity to come back and reclaim it when you’re ready.
Pawn loans run on a 90-day schedule with monthly interest payments. There’s no penalty for paying early, and if a month comes where the full payment isn’t manageable, covering just the interest keeps the loan in good standing and carries it over. Every loan is a little different, so give us a call or stop by and we’ll walk through what applies to your situation.
What to Expect When You Come In
The process is low-pressure from start to finish. Hand the console to one of our staff, they’ll run through the evaluation while you wait, and then present an offer. If it works for you, we’ll take care of the paperwork and hand you cash before you leave. If it doesn’t, you walk out with your Switch — no problem.
Most evaluations wrap up in fifteen to twenty minutes. The full transaction, if you decide to sell, usually stays well under half an hour.
Other Items We Buy
Nintendo Switches are just one of the gaming consoles we evaluate. If you’ve got a PlayStation, Xbox, or other gaming system you’re looking to sell, bring that in too. We also buy laptops, cell phones, Apple devices, and more — if you’ve got other electronics sitting around, it’s worth bringing them in alongside your Switch.
