Cash for Gold in Mesa, AZ

If you’ve got gold sitting around — old jewelry, a class ring, broken chains, coins, or bullion — Alma School Pawn & Gold will take a look at it and make you a fair, market-based offer. We’ve been buying gold from Mesa residents since 2008, and our process is straightforward: you bring it in, we evaluate it in front of you, and we make you an offer the same day. No mail-ins, no appointments, no pressure.

We serve customers from across the East Valley including Chandler, Gilbert, Tempe, Scottsdale, and Apache Junction.

What We Buy

We buy gold in just about any form. Condition doesn’t need to be perfect — broken, tarnished, and incomplete pieces are all welcome. Here’s a general idea of what comes through regularly:

Gold jewelry — Rings, chains, bracelets, earrings, pendants, and necklaces in 10k, 14k, 18k, and higher. We buy yellow gold, white gold, and rose gold. Estate pieces, class rings, and vintage jewelry are all welcome.

Gold coins — We regularly buy American Gold Eagles, Canadian Maple Leafs, South African Krugerrands, Mexican Gold Pesos, and other recognized bullion coins in standard and fractional sizes. Commemorative rounds and limited mintage coins are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.cash for gold

Gold bars and bullion — We buy gold bars and ingots from recognized mints. Fractional bars are welcome as well.

Dental gold — Gold crowns, bridges, and other dental gold are accepted and evaluated by metal content.

Scrap gold — Broken clasps, mismatched pieces, partial jewelry — if it’s gold, it has value regardless of condition.

If you’re not sure whether what you have qualifies, bring it in. We’d rather take a look and give you a straight answer than have you leave it sitting in a drawer.

How We Determine Your Offer

Every gold evaluation at Alma School Pawn & Gold follows the same process, done in-store while you wait.

Identifying purity — We start by locating the hallmark stamp on the piece, which indicates the karat or fineness of the gold. From there, we confirm the metal content using both acid testing and Sigma Metalytics tools together. These two methods serve different purposes — acid testing chemically confirms the karat, while Sigma Metalytics reads the metal non-destructively using electromagnetic technology. Using both gives us the most accurate picture.

Weighing the piece — Once purity is confirmed, we weigh the gold on calibrated scales.

Checking spot price — We reference the current spot price of gold — the live market rate — to calculate what the metal is worth at the time you bring it in. Gold prices fluctuate daily, so the offer reflects current market conditions.

Making the offer — Those three factors — purity, weight, and spot price — are combined to calculate your offer. We walk you through the numbers so you understand exactly how we got there.

For coins and bullion, the evaluation also takes into account the specific coin or bar type, mint, and current demand for that particular piece alongside the underlying metal value.

What Can Help You Get a Better OfferThis may contain: a person is holding some gold coins in their hand and it looks like they are counting them

A few things can support a stronger offer when you come in:

Separate by karat if you can — If you have multiple pieces at different karats, keeping them sorted saves time and ensures each piece is evaluated accurately.

Bring documentation — Certificates, original receipts, or any paperwork that establishes what you have can be useful, particularly for coins and bullion.

Bring original packaging — For coins and bars, original mint packaging or cases can make a difference.

None of this is required. We’ll evaluate whatever you bring in regardless of condition or documentation, but these things can move the number in your favor.

Selling vs. Pawning Your Gold

If you need cash but aren’t ready to part with your gold permanently, a pawn loan is worth considering. You’d use the gold as collateral, make monthly interest payments to keep the loan in good standing, and reclaim your items once the loan is repaid. Loans run on a 90-day schedule with no penalty for paying off early. If a month comes where the full payment isn’t manageable, covering the interest keeps the loan active and carries it forward without issue.

If you’d rather sell outright, we handle that just as efficiently — evaluation, offer, and payment all in the same visit.

Completing the Transaction

To finalize any sale, we need a valid, current government-issued photo ID and your signature. Payment is made in cash, counted out and handed directly to you before you leave.
