Pawn Gold Mesa | Alma School Pawn & Gold

If you have gold sitting around that you’re not using, Alma School Pawn on Alma School Road is a straightforward place to bring it. We’ve been serving the Mesa area since 2008, and gold is one of the things we do best — whether it’s jewelry, coins, bullion, or a mix of odds and ends you’ve collected over the years.

We give honest evaluations, make fair offers, and take the time to explain what we’re looking at and why. No pressure, no runaround.

What Gold We Accept

If it’s real gold, we’ll take a look at it. We commonly see:

  • Gold jewelry — including broken, tangled, or mismatched pieces
  • Gold coins, both U.S. and international
  • Gold bullion and bars
  • Scrap gold and dental gold
  • Estate pieces and inherited jewelry

Not sure if something is real gold? Bring it in anyway. We test everything in front of you using professional equipment, so you’ll know exactly what you have before you make any decisions.

How We Evaluate Your Gold

We use two main tools depending on what you bring in.

For jewelry and scrap gold, we use an acid drop test to verify purity. For bulk gold, ingots, bullion, and coins, we use a Sigma Metalytics machine, which uses electromagnetic waves to read purity without damaging the piece. Once we’ve confirmed the karat and weight, we check the current spot price and put together the best offer we can.

It’s all done in the store, in front of you, and usually takes just a few minutes.

How a Gold Pawn Loan Works

Pawning your gold means you’re using it as collateral for a short-term loan — you keep the right to get it back once the loan is repaid. Here’s how the process goes:

  1. Bring in your gold
  2. We evaluate it and walk you through what we found
  3. We make you a cash offer
  4. If you accept, you walk out with cash — and a ticket to reclaim your item later

All pawn loans at Alma School Pawn are regulated under Arizona state law.

Loan Terms

Our pawn loans run on a 90-day schedule with monthly payments. Each payment covers the interest due, and you’re always welcome to put more toward the principal if you want to pay it down faster. Pay it off early and there’s no penalty — and depending on where you are in the loan term, early payoff can actually reduce what you owe.

If a month comes where the full payment isn’t doable, just cover the interest and the loan stays in good standing. It carries over without issue and we move forward from there.

Every loan is a little different, so the best way to know exactly what applies to your situation is to give us a call or stop by — we’re happy to walk through it with you.

A Few Tips Before You Come In

These small things can make a difference in the offer you receive:

  • Wipe down jewelry gently to remove dirt or oils before bringing it in
  • Bring any original packaging, receipts, or certificates if you have them — these can improve the offer or lower your interest rate
  • Separate pieces by karat if you already know them, which helps speed up the evaluation
  • It doesn’t hurt to check the current gold spot price before you come in, so you have a general sense of the market
