Looking to Sell Apple Devices in Mesa? We Buy the Whole Lineup
If you’ve got Apple devices you’re ready to part with — whether you’re upgrading, switching, or just need cash — Alma School Pawn is a practical place to sell them. We’ve been buying electronics right here in Mesa since 2008, and we evaluate the full range of Apple products seven days a week with no appointment needed.
Bring your device in, we’ll test it thoroughly and give you an honest assessment, and if it meets our resale requirements we’ll make you a fair cash offer the same day.
What Apple Devices We Buy
We evaluate all major Apple product categories — iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, and Apple Watches — on a case-by-case basis. What determines whether we can make an offer is condition and current resale value. As a general guideline, devices carrying a resale value of $150 or more in their current condition are typically good candidates.
We also evaluate Apple accessories — AirPods, Apple Pencils, charging accessories, and similar items — based on condition and current market demand. If you’re unsure whether something qualifies, bring it in. The evaluation is free and there’s no obligation.
Each device category has its own dedicated page with more detail on what to expect:
- Sell Your iPhone — what models we evaluate, what affects your offer, and how the process works for phones specifically.
- Sell Your iPad — covers all iPad models and what we look for during the evaluation.
- Sell Your MacBook — detailed breakdown of the MacBook evaluation process including battery health, chip generation, and data privacy steps.
- Sell Your Apple Watch — what models we buy, what affects watch value, and what to bring.
If you’ve got multiple Apple devices to sell, bring them all in at once — we’ll evaluate everything together.
Why Apple Devices Hold Their Value
One of the reasons we’re able to make competitive offers on Apple products is that they hold their resale value better than most competing brands — and there are a few concrete reasons for that.
Apple provides software support for its devices significantly longer than most Android manufacturers. A device that continues receiving operating system updates stays useful and secure longer, which keeps buyer demand stronger in the used market. That extended software lifecycle translates directly into stronger resale value compared to Android devices that stop receiving updates within a few years of release.
Apple’s hardware also tends to age more gracefully. The combination of tightly integrated hardware and software means older Apple devices often perform more consistently over time than comparable Windows or Android alternatives. Buyers in the used market know what they’re getting with Apple in a way they often don’t with other brands — and that familiarity supports demand.
That said, depreciation still happens. iPhones and iPads tend to lose value more quickly than MacBooks, which generally hold their resale value more steadily over time. Apple Watches depreciate the fastest of the major Apple product categories. Understanding where your device sits in that picture helps set realistic expectations before you come in.
How We Evaluate Apple Devices
Regardless of which Apple device you’re bringing in, the evaluation process follows the same general approach — we test everything in-store while you’re present.
Condition and cosmetics — we examine the screen, case, and overall physical condition. Normal wear is expected. Cracked screens, significant physical damage, or missing components will factor into the offer depending on severity.
Functionality — we power the device on and confirm it operates the way it should. Buttons, speakers, cameras, microphones, ports, and connectivity are all checked.
Battery health — on iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, and Apple Watches, we check battery health and cycle count where applicable. A device with strong remaining battery life is worth more than one with a significantly degraded battery.
Account status — this is important. Any Apple device still linked to an Apple ID through Find My or Activation Lock cannot be sold or transferred to a new owner until that account is removed. We’ll need this resolved before we can complete a purchase. See the data and privacy section below for steps on how to handle this before you come in.
Market value — once we have a complete picture of the device’s condition, we check current resale market values for that model and configuration. That’s what shapes the offer.
Before You Come In — Data and Account Privacy
This step applies to every Apple device you’re selling. Before bringing anything in, take a few minutes to back up your data and remove your Apple ID from the device.
Back up anything you want to keep. iCloud backup covers most things automatically if it’s enabled, but it’s worth confirming before you wipe anything. For MacBooks, Time Machine or an external drive backup is the most reliable option.
Sign out of iCloud and disable Find My. On iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch, go to Settings → tap your name → scroll down and tap Sign Out. On a MacBook, go to System Settings → click your Apple ID → Sign Out. Signing out of iCloud automatically disables Find My and removes Activation Lock.
Erase the device. On iPhone or iPad: Settings → General → Transfer or Reset → Erase All Content and Settings. On MacBook: System Settings → General → Transfer or Reset → Erase All Content and Settings. On Apple Watch: Settings → General → Reset → Erase All Content and Settings.
If you run into trouble with any of these steps, our staff can help walk you through it in the store. Just keep in mind that devices still linked to an Apple ID when you arrive will need that resolved before we can complete the purchase.
What to Bring With You
- The device itself, charged if possible
- Original charging cable and adapter if you have them
- Any original accessories or packaging
- A valid Arizona ID — we’ll need that if we move forward with a purchase
Having accessories and original packaging isn’t required, but it can add to the offer depending on the device.
What to Expect When You Come In
The process is low-pressure from start to finish. Hand your device to one of our staff, they’ll run through the evaluation while you wait, and then present an offer. If it works for you, we’ll take care of the paperwork and hand you cash before you leave. If it doesn’t, you walk out with your device — no problem.
Most evaluations wrap up in fifteen to twenty minutes. If you’re bringing in multiple devices, plan for a little extra time.
Selling vs. Pawning Your Apple Device
If you need cash but aren’t ready to sell outright, you can use your Apple device as collateral for a pawn loan instead. We hold the device, you get cash, and you have the opportunity to come back and reclaim it when you’re ready.
Pawn loans run on a 90-day schedule with monthly interest payments. There’s no penalty for paying early, and if a month comes where the full payment isn’t manageable, covering just the interest keeps the loan in good standing and carries it over. Every loan is a little different, so give us a call or stop by and we’ll walk through what applies to your situation.
