Electronics Buyer in Mesa, Arizona
If you have electronics you’re looking to sell, Alma School Pawn is a straightforward option. We’ve been buying and evaluating electronics for Mesa residents and the broader East Valley since 2008 — phones, laptops, tablets, gaming consoles, TVs, and more.
Bring it in, we take a look, and we make you a cash offer. The evaluation is free and there’s no obligation to accept. If the offer works for you, the whole process typically takes fifteen minutes or less.
What We Look For Before Making an Offer
Because electronics lose value quickly as newer models come out, we focus on items that are two years old or newer and carry a current market value of $150 or more. If you’re not sure where your device falls, it’s worth a call or a trip in — we’re happy to take a look.
When you bring a device in, here’s what our staff looks at:
Physical condition — We check for cracked screens, damaged ports, missing buttons, and overall wear. A device in clean, well-maintained condition will always get a better offer than one that’s been through the wringer. Minor cosmetic wear is normal and expected; significant damage affects the offer.
Functionality — We power the device up and test it. Every feature we can check, we check. A device that powers on and functions properly is worth more than one with issues, even if those issues seem minor.
Accessories and completeness — Chargers, cables, cases, and earbuds that came with the device add to its value. Missing accessories reduce the offer. The original box and receipt are helpful if you have them but not required.
Account and lock status — This one matters. If a device is still tied to an iCloud account, Google account, or carrier lock, we can’t accept it. Before you come in, remove all personal accounts, disable Find My iPhone or Find My Device, and factory reset if possible. A device that’s clean and ready to activate is worth more and easier to process.
Age and model — We prefer electronics that are two years old or newer. Older devices may not have enough resale value to make a cash offer practical, though it’s always worth asking.
What Affects Your Offer
Beyond basic condition, a few specific factors can move the offer up or down:
Model and generation — A current-generation iPhone or Samsung Galaxy is worth significantly more than one that’s two or three cycles old. For MacBooks and iPads, the chip generation matters — M-series MacBooks hold value better than Intel models right now.
Storage capacity — Higher storage tiers command better offers across the board. A 256GB iPhone is worth more than a 64GB model of the same generation.
Battery health — For iPhones and MacBooks especially, battery health affects resale value. You can check battery health in your device settings before coming in. Anything above 80% is generally in good shape; lower than that starts to affect the offer.
Carrier locked vs. unlocked — Unlocked devices sell to a wider audience and are worth more. If your phone is still carrier locked, it can still be accepted in many cases, but the offer will reflect that.
Condition tier — We generally think of condition in three broad buckets: like new (minimal use, no visible wear), good (normal use, minor cosmetic marks, fully functional), and fair (visible wear or minor issues but still functional). Each tier affects the offer differently.
Electronics We Buy
Apple devices are among the most commonly bought and sold electronics we work with. Here’s a breakdown of what we look for with each:
- iPhone — Current and recent generations. Bring the charger, remove your Apple ID and disable Find My iPhone before coming in. Unlocked devices preferred.
- iPad — Most current and recent iPad models. Include the charger and any Apple Pencil or keyboard accessories if you have them.
- MacBook — MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. M-series chips hold value well. Include the charger. Check battery health in System Settings before coming in.
- Apple Watch — Include the charger and band. Remove the device from your Apple ID before bringing it in.
Phones & Tablets
- Samsung Galaxy (current and recent generations)
- Other smartphones and tablets
- Unlocked devices preferred across the board
Computers
- Laptops of all major brands
Gaming Consoles
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X and Series S
- Nintendo Switch and Switch OLED
For consoles, bring everything — the console itself, all controllers, power cables, and HDMI cable. We check that the console powers on, reads discs or loads games properly, and that all ports and features work. We also verify the console isn’t account locked or flagged. A complete setup with all original cables and controllers will always get a better offer than a console alone.
Audio & Video
- Flat screen TVs
- Beats headphones
- Home audio systems
- Car stereo systems
If you have an electronic device that isn’t listed here, give us a call at (480) 644-7932 and we’ll let you know whether it’s something we can work with.
Note: we do not accept desktop computers, but we do buy laptops.
How the Process Works
- Bring your device in along with all accessories, chargers, and cables
- Our staff examines the device, tests functionality, and checks current market value
- We make you a cash offer — free evaluation, no obligation to accept
- If you accept, we’ll need your valid Arizona driver’s license and a signature on the bill of sale
- We count out the cash and hand it to you
The whole process typically takes fifteen minutes or less from start to finish.
Not Ready to Sell? Pawn Loans Are an Option Too
If you need cash but don’t want to give up your device permanently, a pawn loan may be the better fit. You use your electronics as collateral, get cash for the loan term, and get your item back once the loan is paid off. Ask us about how pawn loans work when you come in — we’re happy to walk through both options so you can decide what makes more sense for your situation.
Common Questions
Do I need the original box? No. It’s helpful and can add a little to the offer, but it’s not required. What matters most is the device itself and the accessories that came with it.
What if my phone has a cracked screen? A cracked screen affects the offer but doesn’t automatically disqualify the device. Bring it in and we’ll take a look — the offer will reflect the condition honestly.
How long does the process take? For most electronics, fifteen minutes or less from the time you walk in to the time you walk out with cash.
Do you test everything before making an offer? Yes. We power up every device and go through its features before we make an offer. We don’t make offers based on appearance
alone.
What if my device is still linked to my account? We can’t accept devices that are still iCloud or Google account locked. Before you come in, remove your account, disable any Find My features, and factory reset the device if possible. If you’re not sure how to do that, a quick search for your specific device model will walk you through the steps.
What if my electronics are more than two years old? It depends on the device. Some older items still carry enough resale value to be worth an offer — it’s always worth asking. Give us a call and we’ll give you an honest answer before you make the trip.
